MOUNTAIN LION CATNIP is farmed and produced once more by its original founders--Wilson and Maggi Basler. Our children, John and Ena, have flown like a nest of young sparrows. John graduated in music from Grinnell University; he has come home since Maggi's stroke and is a big help. Ena lives in New York state with her husband (since June), Josh Elmore. Josh serves in the Army and is awaiting his second tour in Iraq; and Ena plans to attend photography school in Massachusetts. Maggi is working hard to recover, and is seeing progress. The stroke has left her with some paralysis, but very fortunately did not affect her speech or reason.
Cats still supervise our production process, but it's a new dynasty of cats. Vonna bore a single daughter, and then ran into the woods forever, presumably like Maid Marian. Bro finally grew old and died, poor lad. He was 18 and faithful to the end. Vonna's child, Athena, lived with us chastely for a while; then discovered the world of boys and came home pregnant. Ena took one of the daughters, and we kept the other two. So now, whereas we once kept only male cats, we now keep only females. And they are all spayed!
As always, we stay in close touch with our product to create and offer the best. Since we sell only what we
and our friends grow and sew, we can guarantee top quality. At Mountain Lion, the owners answer the phone, and, with a few exceptions, we reply to your order within 24 hours. We are crazy about cats, and consider our product a labor of love. John and Ena learned a lot over the years of working with Mountain Lion. We are proud of the excellent work ethics they have developed.
Mountain Lion offers a variety of powerful catnips, charming catnip toys, and snoozing products. Check out our

We look forward to serving you and the cats who enrich your lives. We hope you are like us --
Then buy Mountain Lion! We've been in the catnip business since 1985, and we know what we're doing. Wilson has elevated the science of growing potent, pure catnip to an art form. Mountain Lion has been declared the world's best by a firm that imports catnip and cat treats from all over the globe. The country's largest catnip purveyor mixed one part of Mountain Lion with five parts of all other catnips -- that's the kind of quality we produce!

We share great affection with our customers. Mountain Lion gets calls and letters from every state
and from foreign countries. We constantly get letters and photographs from our customers, who tell us
(and often show us) the stunts their pets perform to get at Mountain Lion catnip.

We've husbanded this mountaintop farm since 1978, living our dream -- to thrive off the land in a
way that's non-polluting and sincere. We built our place with our own hands, creating lifestyles and
structures that are environmentally sound. Our farm is a refuge for wildlife of all kinds. As the
heroine of our serial graphic novel,The Lives of Kitty Jones, describes,
bouquets of goldfinches do rise from the catnip fields when the seeds appear. We use no
insecticides when we grow Mountain Lion, and we employ many of the "old-fashioned" farm machines and
approaches that worked so well in the days of low-impact agriculture. We inspect and sort each bundle
by hand, air dry the catnip plants, separate out pure leaves and flowers, and compost the waste.

We're building a business our kids are part of today and can own tomorrow. You
can count on us because we count on ourselves. We not only grow the catnip, we do our own artwork,
writing, design, manufacture, advertising, web site, building, processing, shipping, and handling.
Furthermore, we're committed to supporting the American economy. All our products are made in the
USA, by people who need the work -- local seamstresses and craftspeople, and sheltered workshops. We
want to spread the wealth Mountain Lion can build and help our neighbors make a living.
